Osteopathic Manual Therapy:
Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a unique way of looking at the integration of all of the body’s systems. We must consider the distinct relationship between structure and function to restore balance and facilitate healing. We make no claims to cure pathology, but we strive to optimize tissue health, fluid drive, joint mechanics and the nervous system to increase function and decrease pain. We want you to get back to doing the things you love!
Sports Massage:
Whether you are a recreational athlete or an elite athlete, sports massage is essential to restoring the muscles to their natural resting length. We don’t want to get tighter! High duration or load sports cause inflammation that can lead to a thickening of serous mucous production that keeps the fascia, tendons and muscles from moving easily, thus contributing to adhesions, aberrant neurological signaling and consequent injury.
Orthopedic Massage
If you are considering surgery or are recovering from a surgery, Orthopedic Massage can help prepare or re-set the nervous system’s communication network. Kathleen has helped people NOT have to have surgery, has helped people prepare for surgery and has assisted many people post-op with ACL, meniscus repair, labrum repair, and hip replacements. This category also falls under Manual Therapy, as the body in its entirety will be assessed to explore the relationships between aberrancy somewhere else in the body and the injury site.
